Really fun concept! I hope that in the future you can find a music artist to create a tetris-esque soundtrack; some kind of music would certainly elevate the game. A note about the web version, you are aware that you can create embedded HTML games in itch.io, correct? It'd just make the game that much easier for users to access and try out! Great job with this, I can't wait to see where it goes.
Honestly it'd be really cool to add objects that can sometimes spawn within the tetras to mess with the piling of the sand.
I imagine boxes, gems and bombs of sorts, all of which activate when any sand touching it is cleared. Boxes could have extra points, score multipliers, and stuff, maybe even sand of another color that can't be interacted with until the box is gone. While bombs would clear a circular area of sand when triggered.
Mostly to lean into the motif of sand in the desert.
Also it'd be cool to have modes with different shapes than tetras or a wide map mode for more chill gameplay
i'm so close to 200k points (200? I can't tell if it's a , or .) lol
the game's base concept is actually better suited than tetris for a theoretical pvp/competitive mode, funnily enough. It's closer to puyo puyo in that sense and in actual gameplay.
(fixed in v1.1!) The 40 lines challenge's hall of fame is showing scores in last digits only!
Maybe it's on my side only but the controller does not work on linux (fedora 38 gnome)
Few visual ergonomic suggestions:
Neurocognitive visual tip: collateral view does not sees colors. Eye cells are put in a way so only the precise point where your eye is focusing see color, the brain completes the rest with microsaccades and memory. In the context of your game:
I think color could have different visual patterns on tetrominos. Currently it's difficult to see which color arrives in the top of the screen or in the "coming next" area of the screen without looking exactly where it is, or even worse the brain could be wrong when estimating which color arrives!
I really like the apparence of coming sand color, but since it goes trough a four square long pipe, it always seems that a "straight tretromino" is coming; the ancient system of showing directly the next piece and it's color was clearer. If you can't reverse to ancient system, maybe you can make that pipe in a different longer so it's not "four square long" like a "straight tetromino"
I adore your game. I really hope the DMCA did not made you abandon it!
Compared to the previous Setris, a few of my main gripes is that the pieces are falling noticeably faster than before, making it hard to clear up necessary space on the board. In addition to that, the sand physics don't match the speed (or should at least be faster too to compensate for the faster block drops) of the blocks falling, so the sand doesn't have enough time to spread out, even on the easiest difficulty. Aside from that, there is a weird discrepancy with how the sand spreads out when against the left side compared to the right side, where it incorrectly fills up from the bottom-up, instead of from the top-down, like sand on the right side does.
I mean...even a chimpanzee will understand how tetris works, and the only dialogues are just a few words. I don't see the point in translating games like this.
The game seems to be in early development currently so maybe it's not a priority right now, but I see no reason to be oppose to localizing even simple games. Sometimes people ask this because they would want to help to translate.
Gotta say, I love the game and I played it for hours.
I've actually already written a few sand automata in Javascript so I made my own version of the game with my own sand physics for my friends. When I saw you got DMCA'd, I posted it on sandtris.com in hopes to keep the concept alive and more accessible. Good to see you were able to make the changes so quickly and get your game back up!
I hope you don't mind if I keep my version up, I credited you in the about section :)
Thank you! I really like what you've done with yours in this update too, you got really creative with the UI and I think the block textures look awesome.
it is fun to play got around 38.000 points and 14 lines. the sand is smooth and no lags when it is falling. if I want to make one change to the game is when you compleet a line let the sand drop before you spawn a new tetris block.

MacOS version when? (You don’t need to do this)
This game is genius on so many levels
agreed
this game could of been a joke where it still used the original way to clear lines in Tetris
I hope you don't mind, but I made some fan music for the game, cause the concept of falling sand as a puzzle mechanic is inspiring
fanmusic for Sandtrix
This game is good, I launched it on my phone and played it. In the browser.
How did you control it?
I just connected a remote control with a keyboard and a touchpad to the phone.
this game is so infinitely fascinating. it deserves the world

Very Beautifull

I dig these ideas as an optional twist.
This game is clever as hell and needs to be a full release - if I had it on the Switch I'd play it every day
I got Sandtrix and Setris. I don't know where I got Setris from.
Setris got a copyright strike, so they rereleased it as this.
Ok. I just played Tetris CD-i yesterday. Life changing experience. Can't wait to try this.

For some reason the game won't launch for me.
Which platform? What happens? You can also come on the discord and ask for help.
Windows
Whenever I click on the .exe, it refuses to launch. Not even in admin mode.
Please come on the discord for support.
I figured it out now. I think I completely forgot to extract the jre folder the first time.
This game is so good I had to post it on my other channel.
I made a video kind of about this before the rename. lol. I'm glad I'm one of the few that have the original file before the rename.
Takedown notice for Setris - itch.io
oh, I understood, thans :)_
Good concept.
wow! i love it.
how can i make it full screen? like really full, covering all of my monitor
Not supported right now.
Thank you very much for this wonder of a game!!!
Few bugs: (v1.0_Linux)

I was about to give the same feedback about the color visuals. Thanks for wording it so well.
A very inventive take on Tetris! It's a tough game to come to grips with, however, it is quite fun.
Great idea! I enjoyed playing the game :)
I hope you are ok with this?
Sure, glad you like the game.
Nice work, man. This is so cool. Did you make it in PICO-8?
No, Java
this is really genious!
Hi friend, not sure if you saw this but there is a noita mod that is very similar.
Sandtrix VS when?
But seriously though, once I started to get the hang of this game, I found that it actually plays pretty well.
Compared to the previous Setris, a few of my main gripes is that the pieces are falling noticeably faster than before, making it hard to clear up necessary space on the board. In addition to that, the sand physics don't match the speed (or should at least be faster too to compensate for the faster block drops) of the blocks falling, so the sand doesn't have enough time to spread out, even on the easiest difficulty. yo, if you make a v2, you should add both water and lava, that work exactly the way you think, 3x the items, 3x3x the chaos
Nice. Any plans to add some music to the main game?
Will this game have a Russian translation?
Why are you need translation for a tetris game?
People Need The Translation Because Tetris Is Popular In Russia Due To Tetris Being A Russian Game!
I mean...even a chimpanzee will understand how tetris works, and the only dialogues are just a few words. I don't see the point in translating games like this.

L Tetris Corp.
W Setris Gang!

Not at all, I enjoyed your game, it looks great.

i've showed this to 2 friends and they both keep playing it for more than i expected
i don't know how libgdx works about exporting for web, but this would be cool
Web is coming
One letter makes all the difference
Is there any way to make the game widescreen?
Probably a stupid question but just wanted to know
Theoretically yes, but I haven't seen it requested much. Pixel Art looks best when it's not stretched.

because sometimes it goes to fast.
Imagine being afraid of ruining reputation by a sand game. can’t be me lmfao 10/10 game
Tetris Corp are cowards and were scared of your Falling Sand Puzzler.
Love the game. 🏴☠
YO THE FUNNY SAND GAME IS BACK!
